Edinburgh
Edinburgh is Scotland's most
dramatic and historic city. It's
a combination of beautiful
architecture, old and new
tourist attractions including
the famous Edinburgh Castle
which is home to the Military
Tattoo and is the host to a year
round programme of various
events guaranteed to cater to
every taste and interest. It has
something for everyone,
throughout the entire year
The Edinburgh
Military Tattoo is a fantastic
display of music, dance, song
and military from the countries
of the Commonwealth. This is a
once in a lifetime show, which
gives a real flavour of
Scotland. Highlights include,
Highland Dancers, Tartan,
bagpipes, the Lone Piper and
Fireworks. It is very dramatic
in setting and uses Edinburgh
Castle as a backdrop. This is an
experience which must not be
missed. The Tattoo runs for the
month of August only.
The jewel in
the crown of the Edinburgh
events calendar is without doubt
the four-week arts and culture
extravaganza in August known
simply as 'The Festival'. This
is something of an umbrella term
because in fact, the capital
plays host to a number
international festivals which
overlap and interweave
throughout the month including
the International Festival, the
Festival Fringe, the Book
Festival, the Film Festival and
the Military Tattoo.
Collectively, these represent
one of the greatest celebrations
of the arts anywhere in the
world, attracting audiences from
around the globe to the city's
thrilling atmosphere.
